Thinking of yourself as a failure can be one of the most horrible, insidious mindsets to ever have to overcome. It can grow out of a thousand different experiences ranging from the end of a relationship to a failed test or unfulfilled expectation.
What you need to do is learn to reframe your failure.
The truth is that failure can only occur when you have done something that is absolutely fantastic and that is to have the strength and courage to give something a try.
The fact that you have experienced something that you class as a failure is actually a badge you should wear proudly. You put yourself out there, you tried something new, you gave something your best. And so you didn’t get the result you wanted, that’s ok. You have learnt something from this experience which will help you during the rest of this adventure we call life.
So celebrate your failure (even if it’s the hardest thing to do at this moment) and know that you have added to the exciting concoction that is your life. Now pick yourself up, keep moving forward, and expect only fabulous things to follow.

Quick tips to overcome failure
- Start a journal and each day write five different things that you are PROUD of yourself for. Look to your past and present. They may be small (e.g. making your bed) or big (e.g. being a fantastic parent) but whatever they are make sure you celebrate them. This will train your brain to find even more things for you to be proud of.
- Start to look towards the future with excited anticipation. Whatever the failure you have experienced you can find a way to frame it in a positive manner. You lost your job? Choose to see it as the universe opening you up to a better job/opportunity. A relationship has ended? Choose to think that a better person is on their way. However you choose to frame this perceived failure is how it will be. So choose wisely!
- Do not allow yourself to stagnate. Remember that all success comes from moving forward, so even if its hard, try to take small steps towards whatever you desires daily. Small steps could be writing an email, going for a walk around the block, or reading something that uplifts you. Do that seemingly insignificant thing, which when combined with other seemingly insignificant things, will snow ball into the success you desire.
